Absence

Print-outs of simultaneous exhibitions worldwide. All image is collected through Internet, fixed on wall* and organized by color.

In the time of information and image overload, disorientation comes easily. Internet brings everything closer, far surpassing one’s scarce attention can handle. By not producing new image, I emphasize, rather than distinction, limitation of myself and art itself. The work draws attention to the visibility in art system—which artworks / artists / themes / locations / periods are seen—and the ubiquitous invisibility. Print form hints the equality among images while color arrangement teases about algorithm and art world hierarchy with its random, somewhat meaningless order. Absence occurs on both sides: these exhibitions are not here, and I am not there.
