Ten male character cards imitating the design of card exchange game, with images and text mainly generated by artificial intelligence (AI). These characters insinuate the ten widely discussed victims in the “Nanjing Sister Hong incident” in 2025.
The “Nanjing Sister Hong incident” is a criminal incident in which a 38-year-old man, aka Sister Hong, has long dressed as a woman to lure men into sex, secretly film the process and sell the video. Due to its criminal methods and the number of victims (allegedly hundreds), this case has attracted attention in countries including China, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam—however, unlike sexual crimes where the victims are female, many news and netizens responded in a mocking way, from role-playing the perpetrator, ranking the victim’s appearance, to making related memes and prank videos.
Through the form of game, the work parodies this common attitude towards male sexual crime victims, exaggerating the absurdity and callousness. Its production tool (AI) echos the “originating from the crowd” and “many invisible victims” characteristics of the entire situation; the former refers to the fact that machine learns from data people produced while the latter refers to the fact that the data providers rarely know and agree in advance.
✿ With gratitude to Song-Ming Ang for the project, and ila for the reinterpretation
The People’s Graphic Score is a Singapore experimental audiovisual project shaped by public submissions of images, sounds, and words, which unfolds across two intimate evenings of live performances. Artist-musician, Song-Ming Ang, invites fellow musicians to reinterpret these submissions into original compositions — creating a living archive of collective imagination. This work is reinterpreted and performed by ila.
